The Bull is not my normal animal persona. I’m much more drawn to the Stallion, the Wolf and the Hawk. Also, I was born in the year of the Boar.
But the Bull does have a special place in my story, which is also the story of the painting.
I painted “The Bull that Escaped the China Shop” upon completion of therapy. I was in my mid-twenties, had just graduated from college, and finally learned how to speak up for myself.
This was not an easy process! I grew up the good boy and was always so eager to please. I still am, I suppose. I want to be good, nothing wrong with that, and I want to be good to the people around me, nothing wrong with that either. But I’ve also figured out ways to remain a whole person, even while cultivating a discipline of self-sacrifice.
Glory to God.
